Baseball is in my DNA

Growing up, baseball was always on the television at home. My dad grew up a huge baseball fan. He read a book about Sandy Koufax when he was 6 years old and he became a huge Los Angeles Dodgers fan because of him. My Grandpa played and coached many Staten Island Baseball teams throughout his life. It is almost like baseball is in my DNA.

It has been an honor to watch Clayton Kershaw pitch all my life. I pretty much grew up with Clayton Kershaw. He made his MLB debut when I was 4 years old. He is heading into his 17th big league season now as I am now 20 years old. It is very special watching Kersh pitch because he resembles my dad’s favorite player, Sandy Koufax in so many ways. Both lefty pitchers, big strikeout guys, Dodger legends, World Series winners and (Future) Hall of Famers. I will never forget watching the Dodgers win the World Series in 2020. Clayton Kershaw hoisting the World Series trophy was definitely the best moment of my life. Watching the Dodgers win with my Dad was so surreal because the last time the Dodgers won was in 1988 so it was a long time coming, especially for my Dad. The joy my Dad experienced is something I will never forget. Say what you want about 2020 being “mickey mouse” but experiencing this moment with my dad will never be taken away from me.

I knew I always wanted to be a part of the game of baseball in some way. I knew I would never be good enough to be a player. When I was 15 years old, I started js9innings. I made my first ever Instagram post on November 18th, 2019 and since then js9innings had became a part of my daily life. I have been extremely lucky to have a great support system behind me as my friends and family believe in what I do. Without baseball, js9innings would not exist. Baseball is literally in my DNA.
