Getting to Know js9innings
Hello and welcome to the js9innings blog! My name is Josh Shiffman and I run js9innings media. Due to my passion for baseball, I started js9innings media on November 18th, 2019. My goal in life was to be a Major League Baseball player. Over time though, I realized my dream of becoming a Major League Baseball player was not going to happen. I always wanted to be a part of baseball somehow and I saw what Jimmy O’Brein was doing over at Jomboy Media. I learned from Jomboy Media that I did not need to be a baseball player to be a part of baseball. With that realization, js9innings media came to life. Almost 5 years later, js9innings media has reached over 1 million followers on Instagram and 1.2 million followers on social media platforms combined.

I always get asked why I love baseball so much. Well, it is simple. It is the best sport in the world. Baseball is always on the TV wherever I am. Baseball is my life. My dad is the one who taught me the game of baseball at a young age. My dad is a baseball enthusiast. I grew up watching baseball games with my dad. Most importantly, watching Dodgers games. My dad grew up a huge Dodgers fan and became a fan of the historical franchise after reading a book about Sandy Koufax when he was 6 years old. I will say, it is very weird being a Dodgers fan because all my friends from home and at college support different teams. I only have one friend that is a Dodgers fan. I am from New Jersey so; it is like I am the only Dodgers fan in Jersey it feels like, and I embrace it. I embrace it because it makes me different from other people. Most of my friends are Yankees and Mets fans. Then you will have some other friends that are Red Sox and Phillies fans. Over the years, I have heard Yankees fans reference “27 World Series.” I was always jealous of the Yankees 27 World Series wins. For almost 17 full years of my life, I did not get to see the Dodgers lift a World Series trophy. In 2020, a year full of unknowns and the first year I ran js9innings media, the Dodgers went onto win it all. My favorite player of all time, Clayton Kershaw, who I purposely did not mention a lot in this first blog, finally won it all. In the 5th and final blog, I will be talking about Clayton Kershaw. However, it was the best feeling ever to see him and the Dodgers finally win the World Series. My dad also got to see the Dodgers win for the first time in 32 years. It was a long time coming for him and it meant a lot. For me, I realized that I value the friendships and relationships I have made over the years due to my sheer love for the great game of baseball and will never forget those awesome moments.

In the next four blogs, I will be talking about the World Series. Then the following week will be MLB Free Agency. The following week will be about the best MLB moments of 2024 and then after that, I will be talking about my favorite baseball player of all time, Clayton Kershaw. I hope you guys enjoyed the first js9innings blog. I hope everyone can see just how much the sport of baseball really means to me! Baseball will forever be in my heart!
